Reader craft pics: Sweden's 'Deck The Halls' Magazine Tree

When we started thinking about writing this book, we were really keen to include beautiful yet functional things. This magazine tree has a triple purpose here: it recycles a What's On magazine, it can be used as a beautiful Christmas table decoration...and most importantly...it's part of a heroic Lego police rescue! Reader craft pics: Antarctica's 'In Awe of Aurora' print and Spain's Click-clack Button Castanets

We love it when we hear how much you like our book, but what's even better is when we hear about the fabulous projects you're making!

Yesterday we received an email from a Mum in Bath telling us about the 'Click-clack Button Castanets' her daughter and friends had made with Peppa Pig paper. So sweet! They also tried our 'In Awe of Aurora' print, improvising with the materials they had on hand! How great is that?

They wrote,

'We don't have any filter paper so they used watercolours and held the paper in the rain for a few seconds (we have had first rain for about 2 weeks). They were so happy!!'

We're based in Sydney, Australia, so it's super exciting that the book will be available here next week! It's a boy... How to make your own Royal Baby Wooden Spoon Puppet!

To celebrate the arrival of the royal baby, the authors of Craft it Up Around the World have created this special Royal Baby Wooden Spoon Puppet for you all, so here's Libby and Cath to show you how to make it...
1: Paint an oval face shape on the spoon. We mixed up a pale pink but you could experiment and create a different skin colour by mixing small amounts of yellow, red and brown into white paint.

2: When the paint is dry, add the features of the baby's face in red and black paint using a small paint brush. You could also use marker pens to draw on these details.

3: Paint the details of your puppet's character. We created our royal baby boy by adding a blue pacifier (dummy) and ribbon, as well as giving him a crown. You might like to add hair as well.
